The Digital Edition covers

When Archaia decided to release Mumbai Confidential as a 9 issue “Digital First” edition on ComiXology, Vivek and I had to scramble to create 9 covers. It was a fun gig. We reused concept art, interior sequentials and pin ups submitted by other artists to create the covers. Scott Newman and I ended up doing the “dressing up” for the final versions.

Mumbai confidential “Digital First” editions can be purchased here for reading on iOS/Android/Web/Kindle. The print hardcover edition is due April 30, 2013 and can be pre-ordered via Amazon.

Sneak Peeks and Status Update

Waiting for the last two pages of art from Vivek. The Archaia team has done an amazing job on the cover and overall book design. Can hardly wait to share that 🙂

Close Encounters

So, the Archaia page for Mumbai Confidential is up. So are creator pages for both Vivek and yours truly. As you can see on the page for MC at Archaia site, digital run starts July 2011 and the final print collection is scheduled for March 2013. So load up on the Chai Cutting and Vada Paav, the Mumbai invasion has begun 🙂

New Digital Short WIP (from Shounak Jog)

So, the finished pages for MISSED CALL, the digital short that Shounak Jpg’s been working on have started trickling in and I must say they do look delicious.

Will post updates here, as more pages flow in. Meanwhile Saumin Patel has turned in his layouts for “HOUSE OF CARDS” – the third digital short and I shall be sharing them soon enough on these pages.

Updates and some new art

So we’re not dead ;-). I made the move from east coast of USA to the west coast and was down and out for a good part of last quarter => hence, the paucity of updates on this site. We’re back to a schedule and will post Vivek Shinde’s delicious art as soon as I get my hand on it.

In other news, Saumin Patel (my frequent collaborator from the Virgin Comics days on DEVI and co-creator of MUMBAI MACGUFFIN) honored a long standing request and sent in some pieces about his interpretation of MC. Saumin has a style that is truly unique and I feel his renditions of a hard boiled genre piece like MC, makes me wanna bug him some more for a full fledged digital short. 😉

Digital Short #2 “MISSED CALL” – Work in Progress

Artist Shounak Jog (India Authentic, Vargav) has picked up the script for Digital Short #2 MISSED CALL and sent in some WIP thumbs when I was away at SDCC.

Shounak has a great flowing style that I admire a lot (He did awesome work for India Authentic : GARUDA issue) and I, for one, am waiting eagerly to see what he does with the script. If the rough WIP thumbs below are any indication, we’re in for a visual treat. 🙂





Enjoy these while we wait for Shounak to finish the short, after which it shall be posted here. Meanwhile you can enjoy Sid Kotian’s work on Digital Short #1 REMASTER.

First Digital Short is now online

As has been mentioned before, there’s a series of digital short comics set in the Mumbai Confidential universe. So the first of these shorts called “REMASTER” (art by Siddharth Kotian) is now online.

Digital Shorts on iPad test drive

So we spoke about the Digital Shorts last time around and that they were designed to be viewed on devices like iPad, Kindle etc. So today we test drove the Digital Short #1 “REMASTER” (art by Sid Kotian) on the iPad.

As you can see, we chose the so-called “Zuda Format” for the digital shorts, because it is better for viewing on a digital reader (iPad, Kindle etc.)

And, even if I must say it myself, the results look damn freakin’ cool :).
